About the Company
The client is a digital product agency that builds online businesses focused on content, creators, and online education. Since 2020, they have mainly worked in the creator economy industry.
The team works remotely and is based mostly in Canada, while many client team members are in Europe. They are looking for someone who can work in EST or nearby time zones with good overlap between EST and CET working hours.
This is a temporary full-time contract role, and they want someone to start as soon as possible.
About the Project
You will work on a large project for a well-known creator economy platform. The platform is building a new Community feature where users can interact, discuss topics, and stay engaged between content updates.
The project is already in development, and a beta release plus a launch event are planned later this year. You will join a small development team and start working on real production code immediately.
About the Role
The company is looking for a senior full-stack developer with strong experience in Ruby on Rails and React.
You should be able to:
- Join an existing codebase quickly
- Understand how the system works
- Start completing development tasks within the first few weeks
- Work independently with minimal supervision
You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and the client’s internal team.

This is a hands-on coding role, not a management position.
Main Responsibilities
Development
- Build and improve full-stack features using Rails and React
- Work on frontend and backend development
- Write clean, production-ready code with proper testing
- Handle real-time features and community-related systems
Collaboration
- Join sprint meetings, demos, and planning sessions
- Discuss technical decisions clearly with the team
- Work closely with developers and client stakeholders
- Review code and help maintain quality standards
Problem Solving
- Identify risks early and suggest solutions
- Help improve performance, scaling, and integrations
- Contribute to architecture discussions when needed
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- 7+ years of full-stack development experience
- Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and React
- Good understanding of large Rails applications
- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge (queries, indexing, migrations)
- Experience with Redis and caching systems
- Experience building scalable or real-time applications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks without constant supervision
- Availability during EST-compatible working hours
- Comfort working as a contractor
Nice to Have
Extra skills that are helpful but not required:
- Experience with creator economy or community platforms
- Experience working as a contractor within client teams
- Knowledge of deploying Rails apps using AWS, Heroku, or similar platforms
- Experience with Stream.io, Pusher, ActionCable, or similar real-time tools
